Double Chocolate Muffins

Growing up, my mom would take me to a bakery near our house after gymnastics and soccer practices, and I would always get their chocolate muffin with sweet cream cheese baked into it. I'm pretty sure I never tried any other muffin or pastries from the bakery, because I was so confident that I had already identified the best treat there. Chocolate muffins are so rich and decadent, and the version I loved had a sweet baked cream cheese topping. This recipe is equally as fantastic. The tops are crackly and crunchy, and the inside is gooey and loaded with melty chocolate. I'll definitely bake these for brunches with friends or house-warming gifts in the future!
